Trump Slams Macron Over G7 Exit Remarks, Rebukes Carlson on Iran Policy

President Donald Trump: “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at French President Emmanuel Macron over comments suggesting Trump had left the G7 summit in Canada to pursue a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, calling Macron “publicity-seeking” and accusing him of misrepresenting the situation.

“Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron, of France, mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a ‘cease fire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay Tuned!”

The sharply worded post marks a fresh public clash between the leaders of two longtime allies and comes amid rising global anxiety over escalating violence between Iran and Israel. Macron had earlier suggested that the U.S. president cut his G7 participation short to focus on brokering a de-escalation effort — an assertion Trump flatly rejected.

Though President Trump did not clarify the reason for his sudden return to Washington, he signaled that it concerns issues more serious than a ceasefire. His cryptic tone left speculation swirling in diplomatic and media circles.

Trump Rebukes Tucker Carlson Over Iran Comments

In a separate outburst Monday evening, President Trump turned his attention to Tucker Carlson, the conservative media personality and former Fox News host, who recently criticized Trump’s approach to the Iran-Israel conflict.

“Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The criticism marked a rare public break between Trump and Carlson, once one of his most ardent media allies. Carlson had warned against U.S. military involvement in the Middle East amid growing fears of a regional war.

Speaking earlier at the G7 summit before his departure, Trump downplayed Carlson’s influence, telling reporters, “I don’t know what Tucker Carlson is saying. Let him go get a television network and say it so that people listen.”

Carlson, who was dismissed from Fox News in 2022, launched his own digital media platform and hosted Trump on its inaugural episode. Though generally supportive of Trump’s platform, Carlson has in recent days urged the administration to avoid entangling the U.S. in another Middle Eastern conflict.

Trump’s comments reinforced his long-standing position: “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” he posted.

The dual attacks on Macron and Carlson underscore Trump’s assertive and uncompromising stance amid one of the tensest moments of his second term. As the Israel-Iran conflict continues to escalate, and with diplomatic efforts still unclear, Trump’s statements signal his readiness to take bold positions.
