ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A citizen has been killed amid tensions at a demonstration in the Warte sub-district, prompting the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Interior to launch an immediate investigation and promise legal action.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Interior announced that last night, a citizen named Hassan Rahman lost his life. His death occurred as a result of tension that ensued from a gathering and demonstration by some citizens in the Warte sub-district, which is part of the Soran Independent Administration.

The ministry stated that the relevant authorities were immediately tasked with conducting a full investigation into the incident and taking appropriate legal action.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that it reassures the citizens and the family of the victim that the rights of all parties will be protected. It also affirmed that legal procedures will be implemented through the courts to address the matter.

The KRG Ministry of Interior's immediate and public response signifies an awareness of the incident's gravity and the potential for further escalation if not handled transparently.

By explicitly tasking authorities with an investigation and promising that legal procedures will be followed "through the courts," the ministry is attempting to de-escalate the situation and build public confidence in due process.

The statement's assurance that the "rights of all parties will be protected" is a crucial message aimed at positioning the government as a neutral arbiter of justice. The outcome of this investigation and the subsequent legal actions will be critical in determining public trust in the region's institutions and their ability to handle such sensitive incidents impartially.
