ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed on Thursday strongly condemned the recent wave of drone attacks targeting key economic infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region, calling them “unfortunate terrorist acts” and urging decisive action from the federal government.

“It is clear where the drones are being directed; they consistently target the center of the Kurdistan Region's economy,” Minister Ahmed stated during a press conference in Erbil. He emphasized the deliberate nature of the attacks, which have recently focused on vital oil fields, warning that any party responsible for such actions “will be shamed.”

Ahmed called on the Iraqi federal government to take immediate steps to end the drone strikes and to bring those responsible to justice. “We are coordinating with the federal government to prevent these attacks and to protect our region," he said.

Despite the establishment of an investigative committee by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, there have been no reported arrests or accountability measures taken in connection to the attacks.

The minister's remarks come amid growing concern over repeated drone incidents in cities across the Kurdistan Region, which threaten both civilian safety and economic stability. The KRG has reiterated its readiness to work with Baghdad to enhance regional security and prevent future aggression.
