At Least 21 Killed, 34 Injured in Southern Iran Bus Crash
“The final figures and more details will be released once the rescue work is completed and a full investigation is carried out,” Abed said.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — At least 21 people were killed and 34 others injured after a passenger bus overturned in southern Iran, state media reported Saturday, citing local emergency officials.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the fatal incident occurred at around 11:05 a.m. local time in Fars province, south of the provincial capital Shiraz. Masoud Abed, the head of the province’s emergency organization, said that emergency teams were dispatched to the scene immediately and that rescue operations are still ongoing.
“The final figures and more details will be released once the rescue work is completed and a full investigation is carried out,” Abed said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Iran has one of the highest rates of traffic accidents in the world. According to government figures, nearly 17,000 people die annually in road-related accidents across the country. Experts attribute the issue to a combination of factors, including aging vehicle fleets, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, unsafe road conditions, and limited access to timely emergency medical services.
Saturday’s deadly crash adds to the growing toll of traffic-related tragedies in the country, prompting renewed concerns about road safety and emergency response infrastructure.
