Kurdistan Region Launches “KRDPASS” App to Advance Digital Governance and Simplify Public Services
KRG launches 'KRDPASS' digital platform, hits 85K users in 5 days. App offers salary checks, business tracking & soon Hajj requests/digital wallet. Aims to revolutionize governance with paperless services.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has launched the beta version of its pioneering digital platform “KRDPASS,” marking a significant milestone in its vision to modernize governance and streamline services for citizens and employees across the Region.
The mobile application, which became available five days ago on both the App Store and Google Play, has already attracted more than 85,000 registered users, reflecting strong public interest in the KRG’s digital transformation initiative.
KRDPASS allows users to register through a simple process using digital ID verification and facial recognition. Once registered, citizens can access government services directly from their mobile devices—eliminating the need for paper-based processes and in-person visits.
In an exclusive interview with Kurdistan 24, Rebaz Omar, Director of Data Analysis and Digital Information at the KRG’s Department of Information Technology, emphasized the strategic importance of the new platform. “Our aim is to make KRDPASS the central hub for digital services,” Omar said. “It will serve as an effective communication bridge between the government and the citizens, ensuring streamlined access to vital services.”
Services Available Now—and What’s Coming Next
Currently, the app enables government employees to view their monthly salary details with transparency, while business owners can electronically monitor their registered companies. Omar noted that several new features will be added in upcoming phases, including tools for submitting Hajj requests, tracking electricity consumption, and receiving official notifications and responding to them digitally.
“Our goal is to make the majority of government services available through the app,” Omar added. “Citizens will be able to submit requests, receive official responses, and eventually digitize and store their important documents in a secure format within what we are calling the ‘digital wallet.’”
One of the most anticipated upcoming features is the “digital wallet,” which will allow users to upload and store their official documents electronically. Future plans include enabling these documents to be officially recognized in government transactions—moving the Region closer to a fully digital administrative system.
High Demand Signals a Promising Future
The launch of KRDPASS has already garnered significant public engagement, particularly among salaried employees, with usage rates exceeding 1,000 new users per hour. Project officials anticipate that the app will surpass one million users in a short period as more services are added and awareness grows.
Developed over the course of more than six years by the KRG’s Department of Information Technology, KRDPASS represents a key outcome of the government’s broader strategy to implement digital governance, reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies, and improve the everyday experience of citizens.
The initiative is expected to reshape how the public interacts with government institutions in the Kurdistan Region—ushering in an era of transparency, efficiency, and accessibility.
