Peshmerga Join High-Level Military Meeting in Amman
Kurdistan Region Peshmerga officials join a high-level military meeting in Amman focused on border security, intelligence sharing and regional coordination.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region, including the Kurdistan Region's Government (KRG) Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, Shorsh Ismail and the Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga Forces, Lieutenant General Issa Ozeir, joined an expanded regional military meeting in Amman on Tuesday, to discuss border security and current security challenges.
Hosted by the Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army in the Jordanian capital, the meeting brought together senior military and security officials from across the region.
The gathering was attended by the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga delegation, Jordanian Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, the Chief of Staff of the Syrian Army, and the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army.
The meeting highlighted the role of the Peshmerga Forces and coordination with other military forces in the region in securing borders and confronting cross-border threats.
During the discussions, the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs and the Chief of Staff stressed the importance of unifying efforts and developing frameworks for security and military cooperation and coordination amid rapidly evolving regional developments.
Participants discussed ways to strengthen communication mechanisms and exchange military information and expertise among the participating sides.
The discussions focused on building coordinated efforts aimed at protecting border security, confronting security risks, and preserving the sovereignty and stability of countries in the region.
The participants, led by the Peshmerga leadership, stressed that protecting regional stability requires sustained joint action and expanding areas of security cooperation to achieve the highest levels of readiness to confront current and future challenges.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Jordanian Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff met with the commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The meeting addressed areas of military cooperation and security developments in the region.
