ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Yemen’s Houthi group said Friday that it carried out a drone attack against a facility belonging to Saudi oil giant Aramco in Najran, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, claiming the operation struck its target but providing no details on casualties or material damage.
The Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency, citing a military source, reported on Friday that the attack was carried out using a drone and that the operation successfully hit its intended target.
The source did not provide details about possible casualties or material damage.
Saudi authorities had not issued an official statement on the reported attack or its potential impact at the time of publication.
The reported attack is the latest in a series of drone and missile attacks that the Houthis have carried out against Saudi economic and military infrastructure over the years.
According to the information provided, the history of Houthi attacks inside Saudi territory dates back to 2015, following the launch of the Saudi-led Arab coalition's military operation against the group in Yemen.
One of the most significant attacks in the conflict came in 2019, when two Aramco facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais were targeted.
The attack temporarily halted around half of Saudi Arabia's oil production and sent shockwaves through global energy markets.
