President Barzani Receives Outgoing Palestinian Consul General, Conveys Solidarity With Palestinian People

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - KDP President Masoud Barzani received Dr. Maher Karaki, the Palestinian Consul General in Erbil, at Pirmam on Saturday in a farewell meeting marking the conclusion of Karaki's tenure and his departure from his post.

During the meeting, Consul General Karaki conveyed special greetings from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to President Barzani, expressing Abbas's personal regards and solidarity. Karaki also congratulated Barzani on receiving the Vatican's high papal honor, praising his role in deeply rooting the culture of coexistence and peaceful cohabitation among different communities.

The outgoing consul general expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the people of Kurdistan for their consistent sympathy with the suffering and hardships of the Palestinian people, and thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government for facilitating and assisting the Palestinian community in the Region, including providing financial support and enabling Palestinian students to pursue their education.

President Barzani thanked Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for his greetings, and while referencing the historical ties between the Kurdish and Palestinian peoples, emphasized the legitimacy of both peoples' causes and their rights and aspirations. Barzani wished Consul General Dr. Maher Karaki success in his future endeavors following the conclusion of his duties.
