Iraqi Islamic Resistance Claims 171 US Violations of Airspace
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claims it recorded 171 US air violations in under a month and criticized Iraq’s closure of Iran border crossings and airports.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an armed group, announced on Saturday that it had recorded 171 airspace violations by US warplanes and surveillance aircraft in less than a month. It also described the decision to close border crossings and airports with Iran as “submission to Washington’s orders.”
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq addressed what it called the continuing US violations of Iraq’s territorial sovereignty. It strongly criticized the way Iraqi decision-makers are handling sensitive files, amid the complicated situation in the country and the region.
According to the statement, 171 airspace violations by US warplanes and surveillance aircraft were documented between Sept. 30 and Oct. 23 of this year.
The group described these acts as a clear and open breach of all official agreements, saying they show Washington is evading its obligations and pledges.
It said this places the Iraqi government under a moral obligation to present the truth of these incidents transparently to the Iraqi people.
In another part of the statement, the group sharply criticized decisions related to closing airports and border crossings with the Islamic Republic of Iran. It characterized them as “commitment to orders and submission to America’s decisions.”
The group reiterated that speaking of achieving national sovereignty while domestic decisions are restricted from outside and violations continue wounds the dignity and free will of the Iraqi people. It said such steps further entrench American dominance over independent national decision-making.
