ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – Over 70 Kurdish women applied for the Miss Kurdistan 2016 beauty pageant while only 11 candidates have been chosen as the event takes place on Thursday.

Similar to previous years, Babylon Media organized the Miss Kurdistan 2016 pageant.

The event will be held in Babylon Hall, located in Ankawa district of Erbil Province at 8:00 p.m. local time.

More than 70 women had applied from Kurdistan and the diaspora, but only 11 have been nominated as candidates for the Miss Kurdistan 2016 beauty pageant, Soran Biradosti, the Operation Manager at Babylon Media, told Kurdistan24.

“There are 12 juries to decide on Miss Kurdistan 2016,” Biradosti continued. “Six of them are expats while the rest are from the Kurdistan Region.”

He noted that in addition to the beauty of the candidates, their skills, talents, and knowledge would be considered based on international standards.

The event will be the third Miss Kurdistan competition following 2012 when Shene Aziz Ako won and Fenk Mohammed’s victory in 2013.

“It is the third year we have organized this event, and this time it will be much bigger and more professional than the previous years,” Ahmad Zirak, the Marketing Manager of Babylon, told Kurdistan24.
