Kurdish leader’s mosaic made from crystal breaks Guinness World Record

Kurdish Peshmerga Commander Sirwan Barzani received a certificate award by recording a mosaic made from millions of crystals which entered the Guinness Book of World Records.

DUBAI, UAE (K24) – In a special ceremony held in Dubai on Sunday, Kurdish Peshmerga Commander Sirwan Barzani received a certificate award by recording a mosaic made from millions of crystals which entered the Guinness Book of World Records. 

On Sunday, a special mosaic of   Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani was unveiled in a special ceremony held in Dubai. The mosaic was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records for its large size and 4.5 million crystal pieces that were used for its creation.

K24's correspondent in the ceremony Bahjat Ali stated that the mosaic was sponsored by the Kurdish Peshmerga Commander (General) of Gwer-Makhmur frontline (in the southwestern of Erbil) Sirwan Barzani.

After the exhibition, a special certificate was given to Sirwan Barzani by the Guiness Middle East agency.

The mosaic's subject, Mustafa Barzani, is also known as Mulla Mustafa and was one of the most important Kurdish nationalist leaders of the past century. He was the primary political and military leader who led the revolutionary movement in Kurdistan against the Iraqi and Iranian governments. He died in the United States while  treating lung cancer on March 1, 1979.
