Kurdistan 24: Breaking New Ground

Kurd24
This is a time of great change in the lands that Kurds have lived in for centuries. Conflict is reshaping national boundaries, sectarian divisions are splintering the Middle East, old certainties are crumbling. Difficult times indeed but for Kurds an opportunity to rise above the turmoil.
We at K24 want to be part of the democratic transformation of Kurdish society - through a commitment to the provision of clear, exhaustive, rapid and unbiased information to the people of Kurdistan.
Our team of journalists and technicians at K24 will strive for the highest possible standards. K24 aims to shake the world of regional journalism, to ask the questions that others dare not ask, to investigate in the interests of public awareness and to provide the platform of knowledge without which no democratic society can function.
We will do so across a range of media platforms (television, radio, web) using the most advanced technological systems. But we understand at K24 that any media operation is only as good as its journalists. We have recruited only the best - from Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey, the United States, Great Britain, Germany and more besides.
And to ensure a commitment to the highest possible international standards, K24 has invited trainers from the highly reputed global 24-hour TV station, France 24, to oversee our staff training.
We will broadcast in the Sorani and Kurmanji dialects of Kurdish, as well as in English and Turkish while our website will be available in Kurdish, English, Turkish and Arabic.
K24 aims to be the best and the fastest in the region - served by a network of regional and foreign bureaus, which bring to the channel an unprecedented depth of knowledge and expertise. We have correspondents in Erbil, Suleimaniya, Dohuk, Kirkuk, Baghdad, Diyarbakir, Qamishli, Hasaka, Kobani, Efrin, Ankara and Istanbul.
Beyond the immediate region, we also have bureaus in Washington DC and Cologne in Germany and will soon open offices in London and Brussels. The Washington office will provide 4 hours of broadcasting every day in English, as well as 10 minutes of news in Kurdish for inclusion in our daily output from Erbil.
Our aim at K24 is to become the benchmark for a new journalism throughout the region, to be at the heart of events as they happen and reflect the life of the region in all its variety.
We set no limits to our curiosity. Kurdistan is a part of the wider world and we will reflect this in our output. K24 - by Kurds, for Kurds in the languages of the Kurds but very much a part of the global community. Our journalists will work 24/7 to bring the world to Kurdistan and Kurdistan to the world.
