ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – Kurdish police forces in Kirkuk on Sunday arrested some Islamic State (IS) members in the province, discovering some pictures in the iPad of one of the insurgents.
Brigadier Sarhad Qadir, the police chief for Kirkuk towns and districts, told Kurdistan24 the police forces had arrested some IS extremists and confiscated their devices including cell phones and iPads.
The jihadists had a hand in the recent Kirkuk attack on Oct. 21 where they temporarily controlled some buildings in the province but were later defeated by the police and security forces.
Qadir mentioned the insurgents came from Mosul to Hawija then to Kirkuk south of the province.
Moreover, he also noted some people inside Kirkuk helped the jihadist group enter as well as preparing IS flags for them.
The following are some of the pictures found in the iPad of one of the arrested IS members.
There are some IS members seen in the photos in addition to some maps used by the group when they attacked Kirkuk.
