ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – As the tobacco harvest season arrived, farmers in the Kurdistan Region's scenic Balakayati area took to their lands to collect their crops.

Balakayati is among the leading producers of tobacco, from where it is exported to much of the country, chief among them Kurdistan Region's Erbil and Iraq’s Mosul.

Balakayati farmers have a long experience in and in-depth knowledge of how to grow what has locally been described as the finniest tobaccos in the area. The product is notably easy to handle, store, and transport.
