ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani on Wednesday assigned his advisor for constitutional affairs, Hassan al-Yasiri, to form a committee in order to revise a draft Federal Supreme Court law that the government had prepared in 2015, according to a statement from the Iraqi Premier’s Media Office.

The government has prepared a draft bill and tried to review some texts and topics that were protested in previous sessions of the House of Representatives. The draft has also been improved in terms of content.

"The government is determined to deliberate with all national political forces on the new draft of the bill, to ensure the completion of the construction of constitutional institutions,” the statement read.

The Federal Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority in Iraq. It was established by a ministerial law in 2005. The Iraqi parliament held its 45th regular session of the first legislative session for the third year of its fourth election on March 18, 2021, announcing the first amendment to Law No. 30 of 2005 to the Federal Supreme Court and the court's new composition.
