PM Barzani holds town hall meeting with Sulaimani locals
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held a town hall meeting with several locals of the Sulaimani province, in which he answered their questions and discussed many outstanding issues with them.
Prime Minister Barzani attentively considered the demands and needs of the residents of Sulaimani province and responded accordingly.
At the commencement of the meeting, the Prime Minister remarked, "This marks the first occasion I have engaged directly in such gatherings with citizens. We are here to engage in a genuine and candid dialogue on several issues critical to our citizens and our nation."
"On behalf of the government and myself, I am here to listen to your perspectives, address any questions you may have, and engage in an open and friendly discussion," he stated.
A citizen inquired about the increasing rate of youth migration to European countries and similar destinations, particularly from Qaladze, and Ranya, and asked about the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) plans to create job opportunities in the region.
"It is truly disheartening that our youth are migrating. Let me speak candidly to you: do you need money to migrate? Does it pay off or not? First and foremost, the smugglers and political opportunists who exploit the lives of citizens for their profit are the primary culprits,” the premier responded.
"The government is committed to helping young people secure employment. We have diligently focused on economic diversification in Kurdistan to reduce our reliance on energy, oil, and gas," he continued. "We have invested in agriculture, promoted tourism, and supported industrial growth. However, these changes cannot be achieved overnight."
Later, the Prime Minister in a post on X stated “These conversations across the Kurdistan Region will continue to influence me personally and shape my agenda.”
I’m humbled to have spent time with locals in Slemani recently.
