PKK Behind KDP official failed assassination attempt: Kurdistan Region Security Council

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) announced on Tuesday that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been attempting to assassinate citizens, officials, and members of political parties in the Kurdistan Region.
According to the KRSC statement, the most recent incident occurred on July 15, when the PKK targeted the vehicle of a senior party official in the Kalar district with a bomb. This act of aggression underscores the escalating violence perpetrated by the PKK.
The statement also added that over the past three years, the PKK has targeted numerous citizens and members of the Kurdistan Defense Forces, resulting in both fatalities and failed attacks. These actions have inflicted significant harm on the economy and citizens of the Kurdistan Region, posing a severe threat to the region's stability and future on both regional and international levels.
The KRSC emphasized that such actions will provoke negative and unwanted reactions, and the PKK leadership will be held accountable for the consequences and any ensuing responses.
In the early hours of Monday morning, there was an explosion that targeted the vehicle belonging to the head of the 22nd branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Kalar, right in front of his residence.
