KDP Vice President: Weak, shaky partnership is obstacle for Kurdistan's development
"Weak, shaky, and unorganized partnerships create more obstacles rather than growth in the Kurdistan Region."
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) says weak and shaky partnerships in the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) current cabinet has caused hurdles in the Kurdistan Region’s development.
During a speech at an elections rally in Erbil on Thursday, KDP Vice President Nechirvan Barzani said his party is trying to win the highest number of votes in the parliamentary elections as a partnership has created obstacles in Kurdistan’s progress.
Referring to the broad-based cabinet, established in 2013, Barzani said that weak, shaky, and unorganized partnerships create more obstacles rather than growth in the Kurdistan Region.
Barzani added that the KDP’s strength comes from the people of Kurdistan, stressing that “a party supported by thousands of young women and men would never take a wrong path.”
He explained that his party does not live in the past but has eyes on the future with the aim to achieve more development in various sectors of society including the economy and education.
“History has proven that the people of Kurdistan trust the KDP because it is the only party that can make the necessary changes in their lives.”
We want the Kurdistan community to develop in a way that prevents an outside force and system from controlling it, Barzani added.
The election campaign for the upcoming vote officially began on Sept. 11 and will end 48 hours before the polls open on Sept. 30.
According to the Kurdistan Region’s electoral commission, 702 candidates are competing to fill the 111 seats available in parliament. There are 28 groups in total running for office.
