ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday stressed the importance of forming an Iraqi government that works on a constitutional resolution to outstanding issues between the Erbil and Baghdad governments.

The statement came during a meeting in Erbil between Barzani and British Ambassador to Iraq Mark Bryson-Richardson, accompanied by British Consul-General Erbil David Hunt, a press release from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) read.

The officials "discussed the latest developments in Iraq after the election of the presidency of parliament and the efforts made to form a new Iraqi government," the release added.

Barzani and Bryson affirmed "the importance of forming a government that serves all Iraqi citizens and components, and works to solve outstanding problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal [Iraqi] government based on the constitution."

The recent migrant crisis in eastern Europe took up another part of the meeting, with the officials stressing the "need for coordination between the relevant institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the British government, especially in combating organized crime and putting an end to illegal immigration."

They also highlighted the KRG's reform efforts and bilateral Erbil-London relations, especially in the field of investment, the KRG statement concluded.
