Stability of Iraq tied to Kurdistan Region, political forces emphasize agreement on financial entitlements

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - A leader of the ruling coalition stated that the Coordination Framework sees the stability of Iraq hinge on the stability of the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that despite some parties aiming to create pressure for political reasons, most political forces agree that the financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region should be disbursed.

"The stability of Iraq relies on the stability of the Kurdistan Region, and the Coordination Framework has adopted a new perspective," said Haider Lami, leader of the ruling coalition.
"The Coordination Framework has embraced this new perspective because progress is impossible without stability in the Kurdistan Region. President Barzani has a clear vision for Iraq's stability. Additionally, the leaders of the Coordination Framework advocate for the stability of the Kurdistan Region."
Regarding recent initiatives by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister to address outstanding issues with Baghdad, a leader of the Fatah coalition noted that some parties have political motives.
"Sending the budget and employees' entitlements is their right. It's the duty of the state, and there's no legitimate complaint. However, the conflict arises from differences in financial systems and governance between the two governments. Some parties exploit this situation to gain leverage, but overall, all political forces agree that the Kurdistan Region's financial entitlements should be fulfilled,” explained Mahmoud Hayani from the Fatah coalition.
The convergence between Erbil and Baghdad on reaching an agreement regarding salaries follows recent efforts by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. During talks with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani emphasized the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region and the resolution of issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
