ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On the recommendation of Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, 24 new schools and a large hospital specifically for burn victims will be constructed in Erbil and its surrounding areas within the coming year.

According to a statement from the Erbil governor’s office, a high-level meeting was convened to discuss the development plans.

Key attendees included Sasan Awni, Minister of Municipalities and Tourism; Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education; Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; and Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment.

Also present were Deputy Governors, Assistant Governors, the Mayor of Erbil Municipality, and Directors General of Erbil Municipalities and Investment, Health, and Education departments.

The meeting underscored the urgency of commencing construction on these projects without delay.

The goal is to alleviate the pressure on existing schools in Erbil and provide adequate educational facilities in areas identified as needing additional resources.

Furthermore, the expansion of the city and a rise in accident rates have highlighted the necessity for a new hospital dedicated to treating burn victims.

This initiative reflects the regional government’s commitment to addressing both educational and healthcare needs as Erbil continues to grow.
