ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Prime Minister Masrour Barzani pledged on Tuesday to tackle the persistent water and electricity shortages plaguing the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing a step-by-step approach to finding sustainable solutions.
His comments came during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Qushtapa water project, designed to alleviate the pressing water scarcity in the area for the foreseeable future.
"We will work step by step to eliminate the problems of water and electricity in the Kurdistan Region," Prime Minister Barzani affirmed.
He highlighted the critical importance of the Qushtapa project, asserting that its completion would mitigate the need for wells and significantly reduce the risk of drought in the region.
The prime minister also noted the project's potential to avert the evacuation of several villages previously threatened by severe water shortages.
In his address, Prime Minister Barzani underscored the historical significance and unwavering patriotism of the Qushtapa region, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by its people.
