ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced on Thursday that talks between Iraq and Kuwait will soon resume to address and resolve outstanding issues between the two countries.
Hussein made this statement during a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, Barbara Leaf, in Washington.
The two officials discussed a range of topics, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States and exploring opportunities for joint cooperation.
In addition to Iraq-Kuwait relations, Hussein emphasized the importance of a ceasefire in the region and seeking a diplomatic solution to ongoing crises.
He also stressed the need for humanitarian assistance to address the situation of Lebanese refugees and called for international support to alleviate the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Barbara Leaf, on behalf of the US, expressed strong support for Iraq's efforts to manage regional conflicts and internal challenges.
She commended the Iraqi government's initiatives and affirmed the US's commitment to helping Iraq navigate these difficult times.
Regarding Iraq’s relationship with Kuwait, Hussein noted that recent discussions held between Iraqi and Kuwaiti delegations in New York signaled that dialogue is the most effective way to resolve differences.
He stated that further talks would take place soon to settle any unresolved matters.
