ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan underscored the enduring historical and cultural connections between Turkey and Iraq during his reception of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. The meeting, held on Friday in Istanbul, focused on enhancing cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

President Erdogan highlighted the significance of the Development Road Project, an ambitious initiative expected to bring substantial economic and infrastructural benefits to both Turkey and Iraq. “We will continue to take necessary steps with determination to achieve this,” Erdogan emphasized, underlining Turkey’s commitment to strengthening ties and expanding collaborative opportunities with Iraq.

Prime Minister al-Sudani's official visit to Turkey aims to bolster diplomatic and economic relations, with a particular emphasis on projects that will drive mutual growth and stability.

The Turkish President arrived in Baghdad in April for a state visit, where he held talks with the Iraqi Prime Minister. The visit, which underscored the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Turkey and Iraq, addressed critical issues of mutual interest and cooperation.
