KDP, PUK delegations discuss post-election phase in Sulaimani meeting

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Delegations from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) convened on Saturday in Sulaimani to discuss critical post-election developments and preparations for the sixth term of the Kurdistan Region Parliament.
The Political Bureau of the PUK described the meeting as having been held in a “positive atmosphere,” with discussions centered on strategies to advance the interests of the Kurdish people in the new parliamentary term.
“Both the PUK and KDP negotiating delegations expressed their readiness to continue their meetings with all other Kurdish parties,” the Political Bureau stated.
A key focus of the dialogue was the opening session of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament, scheduled for Dec. 2. Both parties emphasized the importance of fostering a cooperative spirit among Kurdish political groups to ensure productive parliamentary sessions.
On Nov. 26, Dilshad Shahab, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, announced that Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani officially decreed the inaugural session of the new term to take place at 11:00 AM on Dec. 2.
The session will mark a significant step forward for the newly elected parliament and underscore the need for unity among Kurdish parties to address pressing regional challenges.
