President Barzani, Belgian envoy discuss election triumph, safeguarding Kurdistan’s stability

Amb. Dickschen also reiterated that the stability of the Kurdistan Region is of utmost importance for both Belgium and the European Union.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Tuesday, President Masoud Barzani met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Iraq and Jordan Mr. Serge Dickschen in Pirmam.

According to the readout of the meeting by Barzani Headquarters, “the Belgian Ambassador praised the long-standing role President Barzani has played within the Kurdistan people’s struggles and the attainment of stability in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.”

The Belgian diplomat also congratulated President Barzani for the successful parliamentary election last Oct.

Highlighting the high turnout of voters, the Belgian Ambassador described the level of participation as an “impactful step to reinforce the legitimacy of government.”

Amb. Dickschen also reiterated that the stability of the Kurdistan Region is of utmost importance for both Belgium and the European Union.

Other aspects of the discussions were the recent unfolding events and challenges in the region and the dangers of the resurgence of terrorism.

Both sides exchanged views about the paramount importance of protecting the security and stability in the region.
