KRG Ministry of Interior holds press conference on Thursday

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Rebar Ahmed, held a press conference on Thursday regarding turning the paperwork and manual tasks into electronic system in the departments of the crime and evidence.
He stated, "today we see the productive steps, from now on fingerprinting, information, data analysis and archiving be done electronically, and that change saves time and money, delightfully, the experts at evidence and crime department have had significant roles here, and our experts are often asked by the federal government to help them identify crime evidence,”
He highlighted in his statement that the equipment which are available to these experts are the most advanced ones, which may still require some other tools.
According to his statement, the professionals in the Chemistry Lab advised of a good news, they have been able to reveal a type of illegal drug, which has not yet been referred to by the law against the illegal drugs in Iraq nor in Kurdistan Region, based on that, it will soon be added to the article of combating illegal drugs and substances.
"If not, it could cause troubles for the judges to issue any prosecution against, when criminals caught-red-handed with such types of substances” The Minister of Interior said.
In a response to an inquiry about KRG's employees' monthly salaries by the Iraqi government, he expressed his concerns, referred to having others being motivated politically behind that "it is only starving and hurting Kurdistan's citizens, whoever is behind this decision, it is a wrong decision, it doesn't serve peace, stability and coexistence between Iraq and the region"
"We, therefore, demand them to provide people's salaries in Kurdistan Region as soon as possible and do not make any more excuses, we as the Kurdistan Regional Government and Kurdish people are fed up, what wasn't supposed to do, we already handed over to them" Mr. Ahmed further added.
In another response to Kurdistan 24's question regarding the internal displaced people (IDP) and refugees, he explained that the repetition of tensions are factors to increase numbers of refugees and IDP to the region, however he made sure that all preparations are made, and until now no influx of refugees took Kurdistan Region's direction.
Another part of the statement in the conference covered the issue of entering vehicles with no pre-registration to the region, understanding from Mr. Ahmed's statement, the lack of in-advance-registration has become a big problem.
He clearly mentioned that some vehicles are imported from Bashmakh and Parwezkhan border gates, while some other crown brand vehicles known as Malika, instead as separated parts brought from southern of Iraq.
"Unfortunately, the smugglers in the Iraqi provinces, Garmian bordering and Sulaimani areas, smuggle those vehicle parts into the region with wealthy people backing them, but poor people pay the price” he said "the vehicles are not, in terms of, strength and safety tested, if get involved in the traffic accidents, passengers will be put at huge risks"
The minister encouraged to eliminate such vehicles on the streets, but with agreement between all sides.
