12 killed in Turkish ammunition factory explosion in Balıkesir

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - According to provincial governor İsmail Ustaoğlu, an explosion at an ammunition factory in the Karesi district of Balıkesir province has killed 12 people and injured four others.

Speaking to Turkey's state news agency, Ustaoğlu confirmed that the blast occurred at a munitions manufacturing facility, though the cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

Numerous ambulances and civil defense teams were deployed to the factory site. Turkish officials also warn that the death toll could rise as emergency response operations continue.

Authorities have launched an official investigation into the incident while emergency services remain at the scene.
