Prominent Kurdish writer Dr. Kamal Ghambar passes away at 87

Dr. Ghambar, born in Koya in 1937, was a notable educator, writer, translator, and literary critic.

Erbil (Kurdistan24) – On Monday, the prominent Kurdish intellectual and literary figure Dr. Kamal Ghambar passed away, as announced by Huner Tahir, Director of Culture and Arts in Koya. 

According to his wishes, Dr. Ghambar will be laid to rest in Kakon Cemetery in Koya city.

Dr. Ghambar, born in Koya in 1937, was a notable educator, writer, translator, and literary critic. 

He completed his education in Erbil before graduating from the Arabic Language Department at Baghdad University's College of Education.

His career in education spanned decades, teaching at various secondary and high schools in southern Iraq and later in Erbil, including at the Central Teachers' Institute. 

He was also a member of the editorial board of the educational “Aso” (Horizon) magazine. His first published work appeared in "Galawej" magazine in 1950.

As stated by the Director of Culture and Arts in Koya, the funeral will take place at 12 o'clock in Kakon Cemetery, where he will be buried beside the graves of Dildar and other notable writers from Koya.
