ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Parliament is set to meet on Tuesday to vote on an amendment to the general budget that pertains to resuming oil exports from Kurdistan.
The primary agenda item for the meeting is the draft law for the first amendment of the Iraqi general budget, focusing specifically on Kurdistan oil exports.
Vian Sabri, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) faction in the Iraqi Parliament, disclosed on Sunday that Shiite political factions are advocating for modifications to Article 14 and Article 12 of the federal budget law. According to Sabri, these parties are particularly keen on revising the entitlements designated for oil-producing provinces.
On Sunday, the Iraqi Parliament conducted a significant session to deliberate and vote on various critical bills, including those amending the federal budget law.
The persistent disagreements between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government of Iraq continue to influence diplomatic and economic discussions. These debates are particularly charged around the execution of agreements concerning budget allocations and oil exports.
A notable point of contention has been the distribution of salaries to public sector workers in the Kurdistan Region, which the KRG insists that it has been politicized by Baghdad.
