PM Barzani and Syrian Foreign Minister Shaibani to Discuss Kurdish Rights and Regional Stability in Davos

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is scheduled to meet with Asaad Shaibani, the Foreign Minister of the new Syrian administration, on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

Aziz Ahmad, Deputy Office Manager for PM Barzani, shared on his personal X account that the meeting will focus on "de-escalating tensions and further conflict in the Middle East, and exploring how the KRG could foster greater understanding and cooperation, including regarding the rights of the Kurdish people in Syria."

Ahmad also noted that this meeting follows recent discussions the Prime Minister held with leaders from Jordan, the UAE, Turkey, and Bahrain. "He will continue these discussions soon in Qatar," Ahmad added.

Over the past few days, Prime Minister Barzani has been actively engaging with world leaders on the sidelines of the WEF in Davos. "We will continue to build bridges for Kurdistan," PM Barzani stated in a post on his personal X account.

These discussions with influential world and regional leaders underscore the strategic role of the Kurdistan Region in negotiations aimed at bringing peace and prosperity to Middle Eastern countries amid rapid political and security developments.
