ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a significant step towards forming the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) tenth cabinet, Mahmood Mohammed, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), announced on Monday that most issues between the KDP and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have been successfully resolved.

Speaking at a press conference with Kurdistan24, Mohammed expressed optimism about the progress made by the technical committees of both parties. “The talks have reached the stage of common ideas for the formation of the government, and only a couple of points remain to be discussed at another level. These will be addressed in the next few days, and any remaining points of disagreement will be resolved,” he stated.

Emphasizing the shared commitment to moving forward, Mohammed highlighted that both parties agree on the urgency of government formation. “We have come to the conclusion that the process must be expedited. The only difference of opinion lies in the method of forming and running the government. So far, we have not yet discussed the allocation of posts,” he added.

Meanwhile, regarding the recent teachers' sit-in protest in Sulaimani, the KDP spokesperson acknowledged the right to protest but raised concerns about its timing and motivations. He noted that the issues being raised by the protesters are ones that the KRG has been actively working to resolve with Baghdad.

With both major parties nearing an agreement, the formation of the KRG’s tenth cabinet appears closer than ever, bringing renewed hope for political stability and effective governance in the Kurdistan Region.
