Kurdistan Minister of Transport Anu Jawhar Meets U.S. Politician Sam Brownback in Washington

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Ano Jawhar, met with U.S. politician Sam Brownback in Washington, D.C., where they discussed the situation in Kurdistan, interfaith coexistence, and religious freedoms.
In a statement received by Kurdistan 24, Jawhar expressed his pleasure in meeting Ambassador Brownback, the former Governor of Kansas, U.S. Congressman, and Republican presidential candidate.
"During our discussion, I shared insights into the situation of our people and extended an official invitation for him to visit Kurdistan Region as part of efforts to strengthen coexistence and promote the values of tolerance and religious freedom," Jawhar stated.
During the meeting, Jawhar and Brownback also touched on historical and geopolitical challenges in the region, as well as the importance of continued U.S. engagement with Kurdistan.
Brownback is a well-known figure in U.S. politics, having held multiple high-ranking positions, including serving in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate before becoming Governor of Kansas.
He later served as the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, playing a key role in promoting religious freedom and protecting minority rights worldwide.
In 2008, Brownback ran for the U.S. presidency, though he later withdrew and endorsed Republican nominee John McCain.
Despite stepping back from electoral politics, he remains a highly influential conservative voice within the Republican Party.
