ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Dozens of census workers staged a protest in front of the Iraqi Parliament office in Sulaimani on Thursday, demanding the payment of their overdue wages, which have been delayed for over three months.

Workers Demand Unpaid Salaries and Job Opportunities

The protesters urged the Iraqi Parliament and its representatives in Sulaimani to convey their demands to the relevant authorities, emphasizing the urgent need for the disbursement of their salaries for December 2024. Additionally, they called for employment opportunities, particularly for university graduates who participated in the census.

Unequal Treatment in Payment Disbursement

Approximately 1,300 workers took part in the national census, and their demonstration reflects frustration over the prolonged delay in receiving their payments. While the federal government has fulfilled its commitments to census workers in other provinces, those in the Kurdistan Region have yet to receive their dues, exacerbating their grievances.
