SDF Leadership Meets Coalition and Tribal Leaders in Raqqa, Affirms Dialogue with Damascus
The solution to the Syrian crisis lies in intra-Syrian dialogue, while rejecting any military solution to ongoing disputes.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), led by Mazloum Abdi, held a meeting in Raqqa on Friday, bringing together key military and security officials, a delegation from the U.S.-led Coalition, and tribal elders from Raqqa and Tabqa.
The meeting focused on recent developments in Syria, particularly in the country’s northeast, as discussions revolved around security, stability, and the future of governance in the region.
Commitment to a Syrian-Led Political Solution
The participants stressed that the resolution to the Syrian crisis must come through Syrian-led dialogue, rejecting any military approach. The meeting reaffirmed that political negotiations and internal agreements are the only viable pathways toward lasting stability.
As part of these efforts, the attendees agreed to form a delegation that represents all communities in northeastern Syria. This delegation will engage with Damascus to discuss the region’s future governance and its role within the Syrian state.
Integration of Self-Administration into the Syrian State
In a notable step toward institutional reconciliation, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) expressed its willingness to integrate its institutions into the framework of the Syrian state. However, this remains conditional on a broader political consensus and mutual agreements reached through ongoing dialogue.
Reforms and Stability Measures
The meeting also underscored the importance of administrative and economic reforms to support residents of northeastern Syria. Officials committed to launching initiatives aimed at strengthening governance, economic development, and public services in the region.
Furthermore, the leadership denied reports about the presence of former Syrian regime elements or Iranian-backed groups operating in the area, calling such claims unfounded.
General Amnesty and Coalition Support
In observance of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, a general amnesty will be granted to individuals convicted of public offenses, a step seen as part of broader reconciliation efforts.
Additionally, the U.S.-led Coalition reaffirmed its support for peaceful resolutions, emphasizing that a stable and unified Syria requires an inclusive political process. The Coalition underscored its commitment to combating ISIS and assisting in maintaining security across the region.
This meeting reflects a shift in strategy, as northeastern Syria seeks to solidify its political standing within a unified Syria while preserving its local governance structures.
