ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi parliament's scheduled meeting on Wednesday evening to vote on the provincial status of Halabja has been postponed for the second time.

According to Kurdistan24 reporter Dilan Barzan, Shiite and Sunni MPs have decided to refrain from entering the parliament hall. They have stated that they will not attend the session unless their own proposed bills are also addressed.

The Kurdistan24 reporter confirmed that no parliamentary sessions will take place until after the upcoming Eid al-Fitr holiday. Consequently, today's meeting has been delayed indefinitely, leaving the future of several important legislative matters uncertain for the time being.

Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, declared on Wednesday that the bill to establish Halabja as a province will only be considered if it is placed as the first item on the parliamentary agenda.
