Iran’s Sulaymani Consul Urges UN Action, Calls for Ceasefire
“This attack on our country is an extension of hostile policies,” Mahmoudiyan stated. “The international community must find a pathway to a ceasefire and put an end to this escalation.”
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Mohammad Mahmoudiyan, the Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sulaymani province of the Kurdistan Region, on Saturday, told Kurdistan24 that his country has officially documented its opposition to the Israeli attack at the United Nations, describing the strike as an act of aggression against Iran.
“This attack on our country is an extension of hostile policies,” Mahmoudiyan stated. “The international community must find a pathway to a ceasefire and put an end to this escalation.”
He added that the situation in Iranian cities is calming down.
Mahmoudiyan’s remarks come amid ongoing hostilities between Iran and Israel, which erupted earlier this month. The conflict has already resulted in significant casualties on both sides and has drawn concern from regional and global powers. Iran has accused Israel of targeting nuclear and military infrastructure, while Israel maintains its actions are aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capabilities.
Iran has taken its grievances to various international bodies, including the UN, calling for urgent diplomatic intervention. Despite mounting casualties and widespread damage in several Iranian cities, calls for de-escalation have so far failed to result in a ceasefire.
As the conflict intensifies, Iranian officials continue to appeal for a coordinated global response to help achieve a ceasefire.
