Netanyahu Reiterates Opposition to Hamas Rule in Gaza Amid Renewed Ceasefire Talks
Netanyahu vows no Hamas return in Gaza as ceasefire talks advance. Israel rejects 'Hamastan' despite accepting US-brokered 60-day truce. Hamas confirms receiving new proposal, open to negotiations amid intensified diplomacy.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again underscored his unwavering position against any return of Hamas to power in the Gaza Strip, declaring that Israel will not permit Gaza to become what he termed “Hamastan.”
Speaking on Wednesday, during a meeting with members of his cabinet, Netanyahu firmly stated, “Hamas must not remain in Gaza. Gaza must not be rented out to Hamas. We will never allow it, and this stance is not up for debate or compromise.”
The statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel had accepted the terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire plan mediated by Washington. Trump’s remarks, made on Tuesday, marked a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to de-escalate the months-long conflict in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian group Hamas confirmed on Wednesday that it had received a new ceasefire proposal from international mediators. In a public statement, the group indicated it was prepared to resume serious negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement to halt the war in Gaza.
According to Hamas, diplomatic channels have been intensifying in recent days, with mediators pushing for a renewed and credible round of negotiations between the warring parties.
Netanyahu’s comments signal Israel’s continued resistance to any future political arrangement in Gaza that would allow Hamas to retain control, even as talks to end the fighting appear to be gaining momentum.
