ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a German city, supporters of Ahmed al-Sharaa attacked Kurdish demonstrators, injuring several individuals, including police officers.

On Sunday evening, 500 Kurds gathered in and around Düsseldorf, to demonstrate in support of the people of Suwayda province and to condemn the actions of the new Syrian government. Meanwhile, 250 other citizens assembled nearby to support Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

According to a statement from Düsseldorf police, 50 supporters of al-Sharaa confronted the Kurdish demonstrators, leading to a clash between the two groups. Several people were injured during the altercation, police reported.

Düsseldorf police stated that hundreds of officers quickly arrived at the scene, took control of the situation, separated the two sides, and arrested four of the attackers.

Violence between the Druze forces and Sunni Muslim clans over a week ago resulted in hundreds of deaths and poses a significant threat to Syria’s fragile postwar transition.

The clashes have sparked a wave of targeted attacks against the Druze community, which in turn has led to retaliatory strikes against the Bedouins.

According to the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM), approximately 128,571 people have been displaced due to hostilities that began a week ago.

Additionally, Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in the Druze-majority Suwayda province, targeting government forces that have effectively allied with the Bedouins.
