Death Toll in Suwayda Violence Rises to 1,265 Amid Fierce Druze-Bedouin Clashes

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The death toll from violence in southern Syria's Suwayda province has risen to 1,265, according to Rami Abdulrahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, who spoke to Kurdistan24 on Monday.

Abdulrahman reported that 609 Druze individuals were killed in the province, including 194 civilians, six children, and 16 women, due to actions by forces from both the Interior and Defense Ministries.

In contrast, 440 members of the Ministry of Defense and the General Security Agency lost their lives, including 32 Sunni Bedouins and one Lebanese citizen. Additionally, 35 tribal members were executed by the Druze, three of whom were civilians, and 15 other Syrian security personnel were killed in Israeli strikes. 

Fighting erupted on July 13 between Druze and Bedouin forces in Suwayda province.

Suwayda province, which is the largest center of the Druze religious community, with a population of approximately 700,000.
