Trump Warns Russia's Medvedev Over Harsh Criticism: ‘Watch Your Words’
Trump warns ex-Russian leader Medvedev: 'Watch your words, you are entering very dangerous territory!' Escalating feud over Ukraine war as Medvedev mocks Trump's ceasefire ultimatum.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday, escalating a verbal feud over Russia’s policies and the war in Ukraine.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “Tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President, to watch his words. He’s entering very dangerous territory!”
The U.S. President’s remarks came in direct response to Medvedev’s recent criticisms, which accused Trump of instigating tensions with Russia and playing a "dangerous ultimatum game." Trump dismissed those criticisms and added, “I don’t care what India does with Russia. They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care.”
Trump further noted that the U.S. has had “very little business with India” due to what he described as “some of the highest tariffs in the world.” He also stated that “Russia and the USA do almost no business together,” and concluded, “Let’s keep it that way.”
Medvedev Blasts Trump’s Ukraine Ultimatum
Earlier this week, on Monday, Dmitry Medvedev, who currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, sharply criticized Trump’s approach toward Russia. In a post on X, Medvedev mocked Trump’s threat to reduce a proposed 50-day ceasefire window for Russia to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine down to 10 days.
“Trump’s playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10… He should remember two things: 1. Russia isn't Israel or even Iran. 2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war—not with Ukraine, but with his own country,” Medvedev warned. “Don’t go down the Sleepy Joe road!”

1. Russia isn't Israel or even Iran.
2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country. Don't go down the Sleepy Joe road!
The verbal clash comes after Trump’s earlier public frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom he described as disappointing and ineffective in delivering progress toward a ceasefire with Ukraine. During a press conference following his meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump noted that Russia had failed to make any meaningful steps toward halting the conflict, justifying his move to shorten the ultimatum timeline.
The Russian side has continued to interpret Trump’s rhetoric as aggressive and unproductive. Medvedev had previously dismissed Trump’s threats and attempts to extract trade concessions as “theatrics,” suggesting Russia pays no attention to such pronouncements.
With Trump’s ceasefire deadline now reportedly shortened to 10 or 12 days, the next two weeks are likely to test the fragile diplomatic threads between Moscow and Washington. Medvedev’s statements have fueled perceptions of rising hostility, while Trump’s uncompromising tone signals a potential sharpening of U.S. policy toward Russia and its allies.
