“[Our] brothers in the Revolutionary Guard must not bombard Iraqi territory, because this will bring joy and happiness to our enemies,” al-Sadr said, addressing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadrist Movement, on Monday criticized Iranian drone attacks on Iraqi territory and the Kurdistan Region.

In a statement posted on his official X account, al-Sadr said that while attacks on Iraq by its enemies could be considered a source of pride, Iranian attacks on Iraqi territory were “sad,” particularly when they target Iraqi officials in Baghdad, the Kurdistan Region, or elsewhere in the country.

“[Our] brothers in the Revolutionary Guard must not bombard Iraqi territory, because this will bring joy and happiness to our enemies,” al-Sadr said, addressing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

He called for the region to be protected from war and prayed for the safety of Iraq “from every danger, regardless of its source.”

Earlier on Monday, the Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) said that two Iranian-made Hadid-110 explosive drones targeted the private office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the home of the head of the Kurdistan Region’s Security and Intelligence Agency (Parastin) in Erbil.

No casualties were reported, while investigations into the extent of the damage were ongoing.

The attack has drawn condemnation from Iraqi and Kurdish officials, as well as international partners, amid heightened regional tensions.
