ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – An Iraqi lawmaker said on Monday that he and more than 90 other members of the Council of Representatives have signed a request to convene an emergency parliamentary session in Erbil in solidarity with the people of the Kurdistan Region.

Iraqi MP Mustafa al-Kubaisi announced the initiative in a statement posted on his official account on Facebook.

Al-Kubaisi said the lawmakers had signed a request to hold an emergency parliamentary session in Erbil “as an expression of full solidarity with our people in Kurdistan” and in response to any aggression against Iraqi territory.

The move came after the Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) said earlier Monday that two Iranian-made Hadid-110 explosive drones had targeted the private office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the head of the Kurdistan Region’s Security and Intelligence Agency (Parastin) in Erbil.

No casualties were reported in the attack, while investigations into the extent of the damage were underway.

The proposed parliamentary session would mark a show of solidarity from Iraqi lawmakers with the Kurdistan Region following the drone attack and underscore calls for the protection of Iraqi territory from external attacks.
