Iran FM Says US Losses in War Only 'Tip of the Iceberg'
He claimed that “100s of US military sites” had been destroyed and dozens of aircraft damaged, without providing further details or independently verifiable figures.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tuesday that Tehran would disclose further details of what he described as significant US military losses during the ongoing conflict, calling a recent Pentagon report “just the tip of the iceberg.”
“Fiction: Iran is defenceless,” Araghchi said in a post on X, citing the Pentagon report as evidence.
He claimed that “100s of US military sites” had been destroyed and dozens of aircraft damaged, without providing further details or independently verifiable figures.
“And that’s just the tip of the iceberg,” Araghchi said, adding that Iran would reveal more information “in due course.”
“For those who’ve sold lies about Iran, it won’t be pretty,” he added.
The comments came after a US government watchdog released a report detailing the impact of the war on American military assets and infrastructure across the Middle East. The report said Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and other structures at US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan. It also documented damage to dozens of US aircraft and drones, including as many as 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones and seven KC-135 refueling aircraft.
The US-Iran war began on Feb. 28, when the United States, in coordination with Israel, launched military operations against Iran under the name Operation Epic Fury. The conflict has involved airstrikes, missile attacks and drone operations across Iran and the wider Middle East.
Iranian attacks have continued to affect US military facilities in the region. On Sept. 10, Iranian strikes on Jordan's Muwaffaq Salti Air Base damaged an A-10 aircraft and roughly eight F-15 fighter jets.
Araghchi's latest remarks suggest Tehran intends to use the newly released US assessment to reinforce its narrative that Iran has inflicted substantial costs on Washington during the conflict.
