Italian Consul General Praises Kurdistan24 as Trusted Source of Information on 11th Anniversary
Tommaso Sansone highlights the channel's longstanding relationship with the Italian Consulate in Erbil, its multilingual coverage, and its role in keeping audiences informed about regional developments
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Italy's Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Tommaso Sansone, congratulated Kurdistan24 on Saturday on the 11th anniversary of its launch, praising the channel as a valuable and trusted source of information and highlighting its longstanding relationship with the Italian Consulate General in Erbil.
In a congratulatory message marking the anniversary on October 31, Sansone said the consulate had maintained a longstanding relationship with Kurdistan24 and had consistently regarded the channel as a valuable source of information.
“I am very happy to be here with you as we celebrate the 11th anniversary of the establishment of Kurdistan24,” Sansone said. “Kurdistan24 has a longstanding relationship with the Italian Consulate in Erbil, and we have always considered it a valuable source of information.”
He also praised the channel's multilingual coverage, noting that it broadcasts in Kurdish, including Sorani and Badini, English, Arabic, and several other languages, allowing it to reach a broad audience.
Referring to the sensitive situation across the Middle East, the Italian diplomat said the consulate regularly follows Kurdistan24 to remain informed about developments in a region where tensions can emerge at any moment.
“We always want to keep an eye on your channel so that we can follow developments closely, because we live in a region where tensions can arise at any moment,” he said. “We hope that in the future we will all be able to work together to ease these complexities.”
Sansone also thanked Kurdistan24 for its continued coverage of conferences and activities organized by the Italian Consulate in the Kurdistan Region's capital, Erbil.
“Every media message or coverage that helps present a beautiful, positive, and truthful image of our country is greatly appreciated, and we thank Kurdistan24 for its efforts,” he said.
Kurdistan24, established in 2015 as an institution for research and media, began broadcasting during a pivotal period in the Kurdistan Region's history, when Kurdish forces were fighting the Islamic State (ISIS).
Since its launch, the channel has covered political, security, economic, and social developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East, serving audiences through its television and digital platforms.
Kurdistan24's English-language website has played a particularly important role in expanding the institution's international presence, attracting readers and followers among diplomatic missions, foreign governments, international organizations, research institutions, and policy-focused think tanks.
Its consistent coverage of developments in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the Middle East has helped establish the English platform as a recognized source of regional news and information among international and regional audiences, including diplomats, policymakers, researchers, and analysts.
Through its reporting on regional conflicts, international diplomacy, political developments, and the Kurdistan Region's relations with regional and international partners, Kurdistan24 English has increasingly become part of the information landscape followed by diplomatic and policy circles.
Its growing international readership and engagement reflect the importance of credible, timely, and locally informed journalism in providing international audiences with a clearer understanding of the political and strategic dynamics shaping the region.
