ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – An explosion rocked the Kurdish Syrian city of Afrin on Sunday, killing and injuring more than a dozen people, a health source said.

The blast targeted a local bus near the Kawa cross-road, but it was not immediately clear whether it was a suicide attack or an improvised explosive device (IED) previously left at the location.

“The blast killed at least three, and injured 12 more people,” a health care professional from a local hospital said.

it came hours after another "huge blast" near a military intelligence office in Damascus on Sunday that killed and wounded several people, London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told AFP soon after Syrian state TV called it a "terrorist act".

"The explosion took place near a security branch in the south of the city. There are some people killed and injured but we could not verify the toll immediately," the monitor group added.
