Seiler reaffirmed EU’s support to Iraq to fight corruption

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler attended the Second Arabic Forum on Tuesday in Baghdad, and confirmed his country is committed to help Iraq fighting the corruption and injustice.

Through relevant organizations, the EU had offered helping Iraq to combat the corruption and injustice in the stated. The EU Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seller said explained that on the purpose of Strengthening ruling in Iraq.

“For example, if you have a company and build a bridge, when you submit all the requirements to the ministry to do undertake the work or to obtain the contract, but then you weren’t offered the contract, but rather given to someone else” Seiler said “this is the example I want to highlight, where corruption starts from the establishments, organizations and routine affairs. 

Seiler stated at the forum "I want to repeat my support to the Iraqi Prime Minister to fight corruption, we as the European Union have always made it clear that this should be a priority, we have emphasized a strong procedure for such task” 

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Iraq, Thomas Seiler attended the platform of the First Report To Apply the Strategic Procedures To Combat the Corruption in Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday September 4th, 2024 in Erbil.

According to Seiler’s words, the EU, worked to ensure that the procedures and measures have been taken lead to a good future while fighting corruption, especially the legal and political actions.

He emphasized that Parliament can pass the laws to fight corruption and for the Government to apply those laws.
