KDP President Masoud Barzani, senior US official discuss bilateral ties
As well as discussing the political situation in Iraq, they discussed the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Government, and the difficulties associated with these relationships.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday received Victoria Taylor, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, in Erbil’s Pirmam district in which they discussed bilateral relations.
As well as discussing the political situation in Iraq, they discussed the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi Government, and the difficulties associated with these relationships. They also stressed the importance of maintaining stability in Iraq and the role of coalition forces in achieving this stability.
Another topic discussed at the meeting was Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections; KDP President Barzani reiterated his support for the holding of elections and expressed concern about the ruling of the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court to eliminate quota seats, calling this ruling an attempt to undermine communities' rights.
On Feb. 25, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in Washington, D.C. and met with senior US officials including Antony Blinken, the United States Secretary of State.
