Iraqi Parliament to dispute electricity problem in the session
The Iraqi Commission of Integrity is asked to chase up the ministry of electricity’s work and to assess the broken promises by them.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Commission of Integrity (CoI) is to follow up one of the biggest issues in Iraq, the electricity unsolved problem in the country. After enormous budget went down to the sector, yet the issue is not fixed.
A member of the Iraqi Commission of Integrity Mahdi Gharib believed the electricity situation in summer time is to be as a verdict of the work, implementation and promises by the Ministry of Electricity in Iraq.
He affirmed the ministry broke its promises regarding that problem, especially, its plan and promises for this summer. The Iraqi Parliament, through relevant departments and committees will chase up the work by the ministry of electricity, and fully assess all the plans, carry out and achievement.
This step came up after disclosing an enormous budget was taken from the state by the ministry and its agents, for the purpose of sorting out the lack or long hours disruption in electricity.
However, providing electricity stayed unsolved and got worse for Iraqis, especially in summer season.
The dilemma of the electricity is one of the hard crises that Iraqi people face since 2003. Many were held to accountability for taking a large disbursement, yet unable to fix the trouble, and the issue is still going on.
The member of the Iraqi Parliament Yousef Kalabi revealed that the Minister of Electricity Ziad Fadhil, in 2023, requested more cost from the Finances team, so to fix the electricity issue. The MP clearly confirmed that Ziad didn’t fulfill his promises and he failed.
The Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani gave redundancy order to 10 In-Charge people, in several governorates, who worked in the electricity departments.
