The local residents in the area complain about the local authorities and government for abandoning and neglecting the issues caused trouble to the river.
The river is not only drying up, but has got polluted and gives an unpleasant odour that made nearby residents unable to live and enjoy especially at night.
Kurdistan 24 paid a visit to the area, made a survey, look up and research, it’s found the odour is due to spillages of factories’ wastes into the river, sewage from the town poured back to the river.

Therefore, there is a risk of water and air pollution, as well as people are worried about causing and spreading of different germ and contagious infections.
It’s believed by the residents that three cubic meters of sewage from some neighborhood and industrial factories are pouring into the river every second. That has led to causing the odour, increasing the risk of spreading infections and diseases.
“Not only the sewage of the neighborhoods, but also the waste and sewage of industrial factories flow into the river. It’s caused a very bad smell and polluted the air of the neighborhood also around the river” A local resident opened up to Kurdistan 24.
It is understood that further to posing a threat to the public health through such groundwater pollution, the closer you get to the banks of the Qarasoo river, the worse that odour gets.

Fifteen years ago, a cornerstone was set for a tourism project on the river bank of Qarasoo in Kermanshah.
The project was supposed to consist of a large park, restaurants, sports, footpath or walking areas, cycling areas, bridges and tables and chairs for holidaymakers.
According to what local residents revealed to Kurdistan 24, the project was ignored, no further work was followed due to a lack of budget.
